Support for siblings is an important issue. There are a number of organisations offering services in this area.
Siblings Australia is a national organisation committed to providing support for brothers and sisters of people with special needs; including disability, chronic illness and mental health issues. Contact Siblings Australia on 08 8361 8361, or visit www.siblingsaustralia.org.au.
The Victorian based Association for Children with a Disability has a comprehensive siblings program. You can call them on 03 9818 2000, 1800 654 013 (rural callers) or go to www.acd.org.au. They have two websites devoted to sibling issues - Sib Link at www.siblink.org.au offers support for primary school aged sibs, while Your Shout at www.yourshout.org.au is for adolescenct siblings.
